Profile

When I was in 6th grade, Jeff so-and-so told me my nose looked like a ski jump.  Since then, I've hated my profile.  My have things changed now that I share my ski jump nose with my sweet little boy.  Now it's my favorite part of my face. :-)

Activity Gym Time!

Thad Rossmann is loving his playtime these days and it's hilarious to watch.  Here he is smiling & cooing to all his "friends."

Sleep...

...comes and goes these days @ the Thanna household.  Sometimes it's in a bed, but many times it's in a chair, on the couch, in a nap nanny or swing.  The latter options for the littlest Ziegler of course.

Connections

Motherhood has been the most amazing & fascinating journey so far.  Only a short 6 weeks into it, and life as we know it has been changed forever and for the better.  One of my favorite parts has been watching Thad's new brain experience everything for the first time and how he responds to it all.  The other morning, I was holding him and trying to get him to smile at me.  Well, smile he did with the biggest toothless grin!  I didn't get the smile on camera, but here's something similar:

I immediately teared up and just thought "Oh my God, I love you so much.  I can't even put it into words."  Well, as he saw my face tear up, his bottom lip immediately jutted out, started trembling and he burst into tears!  And of course I grabbed my iphone camera to exploit it:

Can you believe that face?!  It was a hilarious moment, but so interesting to think about it.  It would be easy to brush it off as a coincidence.  That he was just crying for some other reason that new babies cry about, but personally I think it was him connecting with me.  Attaching to me.  He recognized my change in mood, and changed his empathetically.

Little boy, I love you so much!  I love that you are one of a kind and irreplaceable!  I hope you always know how much you are loved and that when you laugh, I will laugh.  And when you cry, I will cry.  You are ours forever.

That man loves his son, and it's the sweetest thing I've ever witnessed.  Thank you, God, for my two Thads. :-)

Happy Boy & One Month Checkup

We had our 1month checkup with Dr. Hall this week and Thad Rossmann is growing like a weed.  He's in the 75-90% percentile in both height & weight, clocking in at a solid 11lbs 12 oz.  That's almost a 3lb weight gain since birth!  Little Thad is smiling a ton these days and it is the Best. Thing. Ever.  Dr. Hall said this is a big milestone since most babies don't smile until 8 weeks.  Clearly he's destined for greatness.  :-)

Also, the Dr thinks his blue eyes might stay blue!  Way to go recessive genes.  We shall see...

An Elusive Smile

Was caught this morning!

One Month Old!

Thad Rossmann celebrated his one month birthday on Independence Day!

We had a great first overnight trip to the Anderson's lakehouse on Lake McQueeney.  Babies, Lakeside Breastfeeding & BBQ were the highlights of the weekend.

In an attempt to keep track of all things TR before they leave my sleep deprived brain, here are some reflections on his first month of life:
  • He is the cutest baby we've ever seen (most people say that, but really, we really think he is :-))
  • He is a great eater
  • He HATES a wet diaper and will let you know asap
  • Pampers Diapers with the yellow stripe that turns blue when wet, are a lifesaver
  • Thad loves being in his car seat as long as it's moving
  • The Nap Nanny is the best invention ever
  • Even though we can sit up  in bed and look into Thad's room, we still have the video monitor hooked up to our TV in our bedroom
  • I love middle of the night feeding sessions - it feels like he and I are the only ones awake in the world
  • We love muslin swaddle blankets
  • Graduated from Newborn to Size 1 diapers @ 2 weeks old
  • Starting to smile more, and it is the absolute best
  • Morning times are our favorite and most happy
  • Not so happy in the late afternoon
  • Loves taking a bath with Daddy :-)
  • Eating every 3 hours during the day, and sometimes going 4-5hrs at night
  • Last time we checked, you were 10lbs 12 oz
  • Enjoys long walks in the neighborhood with mom
  • The animals aren't too interested in Thad just yet
  • He will follow bright, colorful things with his eyes
  • I still can't believe he grew inside me, and now is out and about in the world!
  • Everyday I love him more and more
  • Watching Thad C be a dad has been the sweetest time of my life
