Were made for more than just oogling after! God strategically placed them on a woman's body to feed her child and foster a sense of bonding. It is currently World Breastfeeding Week, and I am so proud to be a Breastfeeding Mama! Breastfeeding didn't come without it's challenges for us: Mastitis not once, not twice, but THREE times (seriously?!), cracked & bleeding nipples, and lots of pain & discomfort. Poor TC would watch me wince in pain and kick whatever was closest to me when I tried to get a proper latch going. It was rough in the beginning, but with all things new parenthood brings, it got a lot easier. I'd say after about 4 weeks, we finally got the hang of the proper latch, and shortly thereafter we were sailing smooth.
I've loved breastfeeding for so many reasons. It's convenient: no measuring formula, heating, washing & sterlizing bottles, etc. It's Free! It's a major calorie burner, which I can totally appreciate. It's available anywhere, anytime. It creates a special, snuggly bonding time that I love.
So Bravo to all those moms who are breastfeeding their babies for as long as they can! I don't plan to stop anytime soon. :-)
